RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) -- Zack McVey scored 19 points to lead
Puget Sound to a 115-111 foul-plagued win Wednesday night against
UC Riverside had a school record 39 personal fouls in the game,
beating the previous record of 37 set in 1990, while Puget Sound
had 35 personal fouls, the second most in school history. UC
Riverside also set a new school for turnovers, giving up the ball
UC Riverside led 63-50 at halftime, but Puget Sound tightened
its defense and the Highlanders turned the ball over 22 times in
the second half.
Chase Curtis added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Loggers
UC Riverside (0-8) was led by Rickey Porter who scored 34 points
and guard Larry Cunningham, who had 27 points and 11 rebounds.
Porter missed a layup with 13 seconds left and his team trailing by
two and Puget Sound's Josh Walker grabbed the rebound, was fouled
and made both free throws to end the scoring.
