East Tenn. St. 69, Central Michigan 57

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Tim Smith and Ben Rhoda combined for
43 points Wednesday, leading East Tennessee State past Central
Michigan 69-57.

Smith scored 22 and Rhoda 21 as the Buccaneers (2-6) led most of
the way, including 34-28 at halftime.

East Tennessee State made 21-of-32 free throws while Central
Michigan (2-7) was 8-of-11. Central Michigan was whistled for 26
fouls to 17 for the Bucs.

Travis Strong added 12 points for East Tennessee State, which
shot 39.3 percent from the floor.

Chris Kellermann led Central Michigan with 15 points and reserve
Drew Walker added 13 despite fouling out with 9:47 left. The
Chippewas' only lead was 20-18 with 6:51 left in the first half.

Smith made 8-of-8 free throws and played all 40 minutes, but was
just 7-of-20 from the field.

The Bucs built a 14-point lead at 42-28 in the second half and
withstood further rallies.
