LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Derek Stribling's two free throws with 1:09 left gave Tennessee Tech a 66-65 win over Florida A&M Thursday in the third round of the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.

Florida A&M had a final chance to win, getting the ball with nine seconds left. But Tony Tate's runner from the left side was blocked by Ra'Shun Bryant to preserve the Golden Eagles' victory.

Tate ended with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. He also went 5-of-8 from the free throw line for the Rattlers (3-6).

Keyon Boyd, Belton Rivers and Anthony Fisher each had 11 points for Tennessee Tech (8-2).

Trailing by 10 points on two occasions, the last at 48-38, the Rattlers went on an 18-4 run to grab their first lead and built a 56-52 advantage with 7:19 left. But the Golden Eagles moved ahead 64-61 lead with 2:32 left.

Florida A&M went 15-of-18 from the free throw line, while Tennessee Tech was 8-of-16.

The Golden Eagles never trailed in the first half, jumping to a 10-2 lead in the first eight minutes. Tennessee Tech built its biggest lead at 31-16 with 6:17 left in the half.

The Rattlers came back, however, to end the half on a 9-2 run to pull with 33-28.
