Concordia University (CA) 77, Miss. Valley St. 73

MORAGA, Calif. (AP) -- Levi Luster scored 15 points, including
eight in the final four minutes, as Concordia defeated Mississippi
Valley State 77-73 in the Shamrock Shootout at Saint Mary's
College.

It was the second victory over a Division I opponent for the
small NAIA school from West Irvine. Concordia (8-4) defeated
Northern Arizona in the 1994-95 season.

The game seesawed through the second half, with Mississippi
Valley State (0-7) claiming the lead 55-52 at the 12:13 mark when
Tychius Snow hit his fourth of five 3-pointers to complete an 11-2
run.

The Delta Devils were ahead 69-66 when Luster cut the lead to
one off a post move. Mississippi Valley State missed two shots,
then Luster scored a lay-up off a lob.

Joe Roberson hit a six-footer to increase Concordia's lead to
three, then Luster sank two free throws following Roberson's steal
to cap an 8-0 run.

Snow led all scorers with 24 points, including 5-of-7 from
3-point range. Mike Thomas had 13, Kadrian Bryant 11 and Stanford
Speech 10 for Mississippi Valley State.

Josh Kramer led Concordia with 17, and Rocky Soliday had 14 as
the pair combined to go 7-of-9 from 3-point range.

Concordia outshot Mississippi Valley State, hitting 53.3 percent
(24-of-45). Mississippi Valley State, which held a 38-28 rebounding
advantage, hit 29-of-69 from the field for 42 percent.

Concordia sank 20 of 27 free throws, while Mississippi Valley
State was 9-of-11 from the line.
