Boston U. 69, Canisius 56

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Kevin Gardner scored 20 points and Corey
Hassan added 16 to lead Boston University to a 69-56 win over
Canisius on Thursday.

Freshman Ben Coblyn had 14 points for the Terriers (4-6, 2-0
America East), including 12 in the second half, and helped power a
decisive run.

With the game tied at 49-49 following a 10-2 Canisius run midway
through the second half, Boston University countered with a 10-0
run to take the lead for good. Hassan started it with three free
throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt. After a free throw
by Gardner, Coblyn made three straight layups for a 59-49 lead with
3:42 remaining.

The Golden Griffins (1-7, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference) were held scoreless for nearly six minutes.

Canisius was led by Jon Popofski, who went 4-5 from 3-point
range and scored 12 points. Darnell Wilson added 11.

The Terriers have won three of their last four games.
