PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Freshman Sharaud Curry scored 20 of his
career-high 25 points in the second half while classmate Geoff
McDermott added 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Providence to a
76-63 win over Yale on Thursday night.
Curry shot 10-of-14 from the floor, including 8-of-11 in the
second half, when the Bulldogs never got closer than five.
The Friars (5-4) had eight steals and converted 18 Yale
turnovers into 22 points, while the Bulldogs shot just 36 percent.
McDermott scored 12 first-half points to spark Providence to a
31-26 halftime lead, after a first half that featured five lead
changes and four ties.
The Bulldogs outrebounded the Friars 26-12 in the half and took
nine more shots to keep the game close.
