AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -- Rashaun Freeman had 23 points and 12
rebounds and Massachusetts used a 7-0 game-ending run to pull away
for a 78-69 win over Siena on Friday night.
Siena (4-4), which trailed by as many as 15 in the second half,
pulled within 71-69 on a basket and free throw by Kojo Mensah with
1:33 to play.
Life and Jeff Viggiano had 12 each for UMass (4-3) and Life
finished with 10. Freeman was 7-of-10 from the field and 9-of-11
from the line.
Mensah led Siena with 23 while Antoine Jordan had 18 and Tay
Lowe's steal and layup gave the Minutemen a 44-34 lead at
halftime. Freeman's layup with 15:03 to go in the game gave UMass
its largest lead of the game 54-39.
