MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Spencer Tollackson scored a career-high 22 points to lead Minnesota to an 80-61 victory over South Dakota State on Friday night, the Gophers' sixth straight win.

Moe Hargrow added 17 points for Minnesota (8-2) and Adam Boone had 11 points and a career-high 12 assists. The Gophers were without top scorer Vincent Grier, who was suspended one game for an undisclosed violation of team policy, and leading rebounder J'son Stamper, who sprained his right knee two nights earlier.

Matt Cadwell led South Dakota State (3-9) with 14 points and Ben Beran scored 13.

Tollackson, averaging 10.6 points per game, had five points during an 11-0 run that put the Gophers up 21-5 midway through the first half. At that point, the Jackrabbits had twice as many turnovers as points while struggling against the taller, quicker and more aggressive Gophers. South Dakota State finished with 24 turnovers.

Tollackson scored six of Minnesota's final eight points as the Gophers took a 44-26 halftime lead. He then scored four of Minnesota's first eight points in the second half for a 50-30 lead.

A 3-pointer by Hargrow put Minnesota up 66-38 with 8:48 to play, its biggest lead.
