AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) -- Antoine Hood scored 16 of his
game-high 17 points in the second half to lead Air Force to its
eighth straight win, a 73-50 victory snapping Lamar's five-game
winning streak, on Friday.
Hood was 7-for-13 in the final period as the Falcons (10-1) blew
open their seven-point halftime lead. Dan Nwaelele added 14 points
for Air Force, which had a season-high 40 rebounds and held Lamar
more than 30 points beneath its 85-point average.
Alan Daniels, who averages 24 points a game, led Lamar (6-5)
with 15 points. Blake Wittle added 11.
Two 3-pointers from Nwaelele helped put Air Force up 60-35 with
7:15 left. The Cardinals, who shot 36 percent in the second half,
trailed by at least 22 points the rest of the way.
Air Force used an 11-0 run and sloppy play by Lamar to take a
31-24 halftime lead after the Cardinals went scoreless for nearly
seven minutes in the first period.
