FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Lamar Butler broke George Mason's career 3-point shooting record in a 26-point performance to lead the Patriots to a 71-38 victory over Holy Cross.

Tony Skinn added 21 points for the Patriots (7-3), who have won six of seven.

Torey Thomas led the Crusaders (5-7) with 16 points in the first meeting between the two schools.

Butler hit three 3-pointers to give him 252 for his career and pass Donald Ross, who played for George Mason from 1991-95. The senior's record-setting shot came with 15:54 remaining on an assist from Jai Lewis.

The Patriots put the game away in the early minutes of the second half when Butler, Skinn and Lewis combined to score all of their points during a 22-0 run.

George Mason took control with an 11-2 run over the final 6:14 of the first half for a 32-23 halftime lead. ^
