EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Georgetown had 12 3-pointers, including five from Darrel Owens, in a 76-64 victory against UTEP in the Sun Bowl tournament championship Wednesday night.

Owens was 5-for-5 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 overall to lead all scorers with 21 points, and he boosted the Hoyas (8-2) by hitting three consecutive 3s in the last three minutes of the first half.

Georgetown, which has won five straight since losing to No. 6 Illinois earlier this month, made 12 of 20 3-pointers and shot 58 percent. Eight of the 3-pointers came in the first half.

John Tofi led the Miners (7-3) with 20 points and nine rebounds.

UTEP, which shot 45.1 percent, never got closer than its halftime deficit of seven, in part because the Hoyas shot 67 percent in the second half. The Miners trailed by seven after a basket by Edgar Moreno with 9:05 remaining, but Jeff Green hit a 3-pointer to push the Hoyas' lead back to 10.

Brandon Bowman followed Owens with 15 points, despite going 0-for-3 from 3-point range. He led Georgetown with nine rebounds and three steals. Jonathan Wallace (13 points) was 3-of-5 on 3-pointers, and Ashanti Cook (11) was 2-of-3 from long range.

UTEP's Kevin Henderson had 18 points on 5-on-7 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
