ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Chris Oliver scored a career-high 33
points and had 14 rebounds to lead Radford to an 85-78 win over
Dartmouth in the third place game Thursday of the Lobo
Invitational.
Oliver hit 10 of his first 11 shots and finished 12-for-15. The
14 rebounds was one shy of Oliver's career-high and he went 8-for-8
at the free throw line. The 6-foot-6 junior has had double-doubles
in six of his last eight games.Radford (7-5) took control early in the second half, when Oliver
hit five straight baskets to give the Highlanders a 67-56 lead with
14:14 left.Dartmouth (1-8) hit nine 3-pointers and the Big Green were led
DeVon Mosley and Mike Lang, each with 15 points. Lang had four 3s,
three of them in the first half.Radford hit 18 of 28 shots in the first half (64.3 percent),
with Oliver scoring 16 points as the Highlanders took a 53-45 lead
at the break.Dartmouth used a late rally to get within 79-74 on a jumper with
Mosley with 3:50 left, but Radford countered with a field goal by
Whit Holcomb-Faye and an offensive rebound basket by Oliver with
just over 2:00 left.Holcomb-Faye scored 15 points and Reggie McIntyre scored 11 for
Radford. Calvin Arnold scored 12 for Dartmouth, all in the second
half.
