Mississippi 82, Alcorn State 69

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Dwayne Curtis scored a career-high 25
points and four Mississippi players reached double figures in an
82-69 victory over Alcorn State on Friday night.

Todd Abernethy and Bam Doyne added 12 points apiece, while
Jeremy Parnell had 11 for the Rebels (9-3).

Curtis finished 9-of-12 from the field with eight rebounds as
Ole Miss broke open a close game in the final 8 minutes.

Alcorn State, winless in nine road games, was led by Clif
Douglass with 18 points. Delvin Thompson had 16 points, Almaad
Jackson had 13 points and Juan Wyatt added 11 for the Braves, who
trailed 60-55 with 11 minutes remaining.

Ole Miss shot a season-best 75 percent from the free-throw line.
The Rebels outrebounded Alcorn State 40-34, led by freshman Mike
Smith with 11.

Ole Miss led 43-37 at halftime on the strength of a 17-2 run
midway through the first half. Alcorn State, led by Thompson and
Jackson with 11 points apiece, had a late 10-0 run to stay close.

The Rebels built a 70-56 lead with 6:58 left on a pair of free
throws by Curtis, capping a 10-1 run. Alcorn State never got closer
than seven points.
