LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Jibril Hodges and Kevin Houston
sparked a 17-4 run over the final 4:11 of the game to lead Long
Beach State to a 79-65 victory over Cornell on Friday.
Hodges scored all 12 of his points in the second-half and hit
two key 3-pointers down the stretch for the 49ers. Houston made six
free throws in the final 1:22 seconds and finished with 12 points
and four steals.Onye Ibekwe also scored 12 points and had seven rebounds and
Kejuan Johnson finished with 11 points for the 49ers (4-6).Lenny Collins scored a season-high 27 points for Cornell (4-7).Hodges' two free throws tied the game at 61-61 with 4:11
remaining in the game. The 49ers then forced four consecutive
turnovers to extend its lead to 71-62 with 2:12 left in the game.Cornell committed 29 turnovers but outrebounded the 49ers 33-27.
