BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Martane Freeman had 17 points and nine rebounds as Colorado extended its winning streak to eight with an 83-65 victory over struggling Dartmouth Saturday.

Richard Roby added 13 points for Colorado (9-1), off to its best start since 1978-79 when it began 10-1. The eight-game winning streak is the school's longest since 1961-62 when the Buffaloes won 12 in a row.

Calvin Arnold and DeVon Mosley had 11 points each for Dartmouth (1-9), losers of eight in a row. The Big Green are off to their worst start since the 1993-94 team opened the year 1-12.

Colorado saw its 17-point halftime lead reduced to 11 after Leon Pattman's four-point play and a rebound basket nine minutes into the second half. Michael Giovacchini got Dartmouth even closer, 56-43, with 10:24 left, but Roby came right back with a 3-pointer for Colorado to start a 10-2 run and made it a 66-48 game.

Mike Lang's 3-pointer got the Big Green as close 70-57 with 6:20 remaining. Jumpers by Freeman and Marcus Hall got the lead to 81-57 with four minutes left.

Dartmouth stayed close for nearly 15 minutes of the first half as Mosley and Arnold contributed nine points each. Arnold's 3-pointer with 5:13 left made it 27-20 and the Big Green could have been closer had Jason Meyer and Chuck Flynn finished uncontested layups.

Colorado which had trouble at the free throw line, 4-for-11, did finish the half well. Freeman had seven points including a 3-pointer over the last five minutes of the half and the Buffaloes outscored Dartmouth 14-4 over that stretch to lead 41-24 at halftime.
