BOSTON (AP) -- Jai Lewis had 19 points and seven rebounds and Tony Skinn added 17 points to lead George Mason past Northeastern 71-68 Monday.

Jose Juan Barea missed a pair of crucial free throws and a 3-pointer at the buzzer as George Mason (8-4, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) escaped with its seventh win in nine tries and handed Northeastern its fourth straight loss.

Barea gave Northeastern a 68-67 lead with 1:55 left in the game, but Lewis' layup with 1:27 remaining iced the game. Following Barea's missed free throws, Folarin Campbell extended the Patriots lead with a pair of free throws.

George Mason led by as many as 11 early in the second half, but Northeastern went on a 19-2 run and led 54-48 on a Bobby Kelly 3-pointer with 12:52 left.

But George Mason chipped away at the deficit and regained the lead when Skinn's layup with 7:12 left made it 60-59.

Barea had 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Northeastern (6-5, 2-1).

Shawn James, who became the first player in Huskies history with 200 career blocks, added 11 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks for Northeastern.
