Florida A&M 76, Norfolk State 64

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Tony Tate scored 26 points, including
nine points in a critical stretch of the second half, to lead
Florida A&M to a 76-64 win over Norfolk State on Wednesday night.

Florida A&M (5-8, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) took a
61-60 lead on a Glen Elliott layup with 6:59 left in the game after
trailing by as much as four earlier in the second half.

After two free throws by Joe Ballard made it 63-60, Tate scored
nine points in a 13-4 run over the final 5:22 to secure the win for
the Rattlers.

Rome Sanders added 16 and six rebounds points for Florida A&M,
which shot 58.1 percent from the field in the game.

Tony Murphy scored 19 points and Larry Vickers added 14 points
and six offensive rebounds as the only scorers in double figures
for Norfolk State (2-10, 1-1).

The Rattlers capitalized on turnovers, scoring 28 points off 17
Spartans giveaways. Florida A&M also held a 22-6 advantage at the
foul line.
