BOSTON (AP) -- Aaron Davis had 21 points and nine rebounds and Jose Juan Barea added 13 points and seven assists to lead Northeastern to a 63-60 win over Drexel on Saturday.

The Huskies trailed 60-58 when Barea assisted on Shawn James' 3-pointer with 31.1 seconds remaining to give the Huskies the lead for good.

Davis then rebounded Kenell Sanchez's miss and made two free throws for the final score. Bashir Mason missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Drexel, which lost its third straight.

Bennet Davis had 12 points for Northeastern (9-6, 5-2 Colonial) and Barea finished the game just one point shy of becoming the third player in Huskies history with 2,000 career points. Reggie Lewis, whose four-year career ended in 1987, is the school's career scoring leader with 2,709 points, while Pete Harris had 2,167 in a career that ended in 1981.

Dominick Mejia had 21 to lead Drexel.

The Huskies went on a 10-2 run midway through the second half to turn a two-point deficit into a six-point lead. Mejia scored 14 in the second half to keep the game close.

Drexel (9-8, 3-3) took a 20-18 lead on Sanchez's jumper with 2:18 remaining in the first half, but the Huskies closed the first half on a 6-0 run, including Barea's 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it 24-20 at halftime.

Sanchez had nine points and Mason added eight points and eight assists for the Dragons.
