PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Dustin Salisbery scored 15 of his
season-high 23 points in the second half to lead Temple to a 68-52
win over La Salle on Saturday.
Mardy Collins added 17 points for the Owls (8-6, 2-2 Atlantic
10), who defeated the Explorers (10-4, 2-2) for the fourth straight
Darnell Harris scored 17 points for La Salle, all in the first
half. Steven Smith contributed 15 points and seven rebounds.
Jermaine Thomas, who entered the game averaging 11.2 points per
game for La Salle, was held to three points on 1-of-6 shooting.
Salisbery provided a big spark for the Owls midway through the
second half. With Temple leading 41-40, he connected on
back-to-back 3-pointers for a 47-40 lead with 12:07 left. La Salle
never really provided a challenge after that.
Temple frustrated La Salle into 19 turnovers with its patented
matchup zone defense. Meanwhile, the Owls showed patience on
offense and committed only five turnovers.
La Salle led by as many as 11 points, 25-14, in the first half
on a 3-pointer by Smith with 11:58 remaining. Temple shot just 28
percent from the field (9 of 32) in the opening half, but the Owls
committed only three turnovers and trailed 35-30 at the break.
