FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Jai Lewis had 19 points and 12 rebounds and
Tony Skinn had a school and conference record nine steals to lead
George Mason past Northeastern 74-63 Thursday night.
Lamar Butler had 20 points and
Will Thomas scored a career-high
18 points for the Patriots (13-4, 7-1 Colonial Athletic
Association), who have won six straight and 12 of 14.
Jose Juan Barea had 15 points and eight assists for the Huskies
(9-7, 5-2), becoming the first player in school history to reach
2,000 career points and 600 career assists.
The Patriots dominated the inside with 50 points in the paint
and held the Huskies to 34 percent shooting.
George Mason opened with a 16-3 run and never let up, leading by
as many as 17 points in the first half.
Northeastern used a 17-7 run spanning the first and second
halves to pull within five at 38-33 early in the second, but George
Mason responded with a 19-7 surge to push the lead back to 17 at
57-40.
The Huskies pulled within eight at 59-51 with 5:34 remaining,
but never seriously threatened again.
