LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) -- Jason Thompson scored a game-high 23
points as Rider rallied for a 78-70 win over Niagara on Friday
Paul Johnson added 21 points and six rebounds for Rider, which
only hit 37 percent of its shots in the first half and trailed
44-30 at the break. However, the Broncs (5-10, 1-6 in Metro
Atlantic Athletic Conference) went on a 20-7 run to start the
second half and took the lead for good when Thompson made a layup
with 3:38 left.
The Broncs also dominated the boards on both ends, outrebounding
Niagara by a 52-29 margin.
Niagara had led by as much as 20 points in the first half before
going cold after the break, hitting just 29 percent from the floor
in the second half. They were led by Charron Fisher's 22 points and
11 rebounds, while Lorenzo Miles added 15 points and seven rebounds
for the Purple Eagles (6-10, 3-5).
