BOSTON(AP) -- Jose Juan Barea scored 29 points and had 10 assists Saturday to lead Northeastern to its 1,000th win in school history in an 89-73 victory over Hofstra.

Aaron Davis added 21 points for the Huskies, who won their third game in four tries and snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Pride.

Northeastern (10-7, 6-3 Colonial Athletic Association) trailed 42-34 at halftime, but outscored Hofstra 55-31 in the second half.

The Huskies opened the second half on a 9-0 run and took their first lead since early in the game after a pair of Bobby Kelly free throws made it 43-42 with 17:53 remaining.

A Loren Stokes 3-pointer tied it at 49, and then Northeastern went on a 12-2 run, taking a 61-51 lead on a Davis 3-pointer.

The Pride battled back. Stokes, who scored a game-high 32 points, hit a tough layup to make it 68-63 with 6:41 remaining.

Northeastern answered with 10 straight points to blow the game open.

Aurimas Kieza added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Hofstra (12-4, 5-3). The Pride shot just 36 percent in the second half. Northeastern shot 63 percent in the second.
