    SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) -- Pacific beat UC Santa Barbara 65-53 Saturday, giving coach Bob Thomason his 300th career victory.

    Christian Maraker had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead Pacific (14-6, 4-2 Big West Conference).

    Cecil Brown scored 17 to lead UC Santa Barbara (7-11, 1-6), and Chris Devine scored 12.

    The Gauchos scored the first 10 points of the second half to take a 38-38 lead, and led 47-42 with 10 minutes to play.

    Pacific then went on an 11-0 run that included 7 points from Steffan Johnson to take a 53-47 lead. UC Santa Barbara got no closer than four points after that.

    Mike Webb added 11 points for Pacific.

    Thomason, who played for Pacific, is in his 18th year as the Tigers' head coach. He has led Pacific to two straight NCAA tournament appearances.
