UTEP 69, Tulsa 62

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Kevin Henderson and Jason Williams scored 16
points each to help lift Texas-El Paso to a 69-62 victory over
Tulsa Saturday.

The Miners (13-6, 6-1 Conference USA) went on a 12-2 second-half
run to break open a tight game for a 45-35 lead with 8:06

Henderson hit two 3-pointers in that run and three of six for
the game.

UTEP maintained that lead at 50-42 with 3:30 left after a steal
and slam by Williams.

Tulsa (7-13, 2-5) tried fouling to get back in the game and sent
the Miners to the line 30 times in the final 3:14. The Miners made
just 17, but Tulsa could not capitalize and never came closer than
63-57 with 45 seconds left.

For the game, UTEP set a Reynolds Center record for free throws
by a Tulsa opponent with 45 attempts, making 25.

Brett McDade scored 18 points for Tulsa, and Charles Ramsdell
added 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Miners shot 45 percent while holding Tulsa to 41.8 percent.

Tulsa led 24-22 with 11 seconds left in the first half, but
Henderson hit an uncontested 3-pointer as the clock expired to take
a 25-24 halftime lead, and Tulsa never led again.
