FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Jai Lewis scored 19 points as George Mason took sole possession of first place in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 69-62 win over UNC-Wilmington on Saturday.

The Patriots (17-5, 11-2 CAA), broke a first-place tie with the Seahawks (17-7, 10-3), who lost for just the second time in their last 10 games. It was the Patriots' 10th win in 11 games. Tony Skinn scored 16 points and Lamar Butler added 10 for the Patriots.

With the win, George Mason coach Jim Larranaga broke former Richmond coach Dick Tarrant's CAA record for career victories with 107.

The Patriots opened the second half with a 7-0 spurt giving them a 34-30 advantage. But the Seahawks responded with an 8-0 run of their own to reclaim the lead.

Lewis scored 14 of his points in the second half to tie the game at 43-43. But T.J. Carter responded with a 3-pointer to give UNC-Wilmington a 46-43 advantage with 15:03 remaining, a lead the Seahawks would hold until 3:43 on the clock.

After missing 10 of their first 17 attempts from the free throw line, the Patriots hit 11 straight to end the game. Folarin Campbell's foul shots with 13 seconds remaining would provide the game's final margin as George Mason snapped a three-game losing streak to the Seahawks.

Carter led the Seahawks with 21 points. Mitch Laue added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
