PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Dominick Mejia was 5-for-7 from 3-point
range and scored a game-high 26 points to lead Drexel to an 83-47
win over Northeastern on Thursday night.
The Dragons (13-12 overall, 7-7 Colonial Athletic Association)
never trailed as they ended a four-game losing streak and racked up
their highest point total and largest margin of victory this
season. The Huskies (13-9, 9-5) were handed their worst loss of the
season.
Frank Elegar hit a hook shot to conclude a 29-4 run and give
Drexel a 50-17 lead with 17:20 remaining in the game.
Chaz Crawford
sparked the run with eight straight points.
The Dragons ended the first half outscoring Northeastern 20-4
and scored the first nine points of the second half. The Dragons
led by as many as 38 points in the second half.
Elegar finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, and Crawford
tied a career high with 19 points.
Drexel outscored the Huskies 38-18 in the paint and scored 25
points off 16 Northeastern turnovers. Northeastern shot 25 percent
from the field in the first half and 30.4 percent for the game.
Jose Juan Barea led Northeastern with 15 points and
Bennet Davis
added 11 points.
Janon Cole pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for
the Huskies.
