HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- Carlos Rivera had 22 points, six rebounds
and four assists to lead Hofstra to its 17th straight home win,
89-78 over Northeastern on Saturday.
Aurimas Kieza had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Pride (18-4,
11-3 Colonial Athletic Association), who won their sixth straight
overall.
Antoine Agudio had 16 points for Hofstra, while Adrian
Uter had 15 points and 11 rebounds and
Loren Stokes added 10 points
and seven assists.
Jose Juan Barea had 23 points for the Huskies (13-10, 9-6),
while
Adrian Martinez added 17 points and
Aaron Davis had 13. Shawn
James, the nation's leading shot blocker at 6.5 per game, had six
blocks and 10 points.
The Huskies went on an 11-4 run to tie the game at 36 with 34
seconds to go in the first half. Rivera hit a 3 with 5 seconds to
go to give the Pride the lead for good.
Northeastern got within 62-58 on a layup by Martinez with 9:59
to go, but Agudio scored five points in the Pride's 15-0 run that
made it 77-58 with 5:40 left. The Huskies got as close as 81-73 on
3 by Barea with 1:05 to play.
