Xavier 84, Fordham 64

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Stanley Burrell scored 21 points and Justin
Cage added 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Xavier to an 84-64
victory over Fordham on Wednesday night.

The Musketeers (15-7, 6-5 Atlantic 10) were playing their first
game since losing leading-scorer Brian Thornton, who broke his
ankle in Saturday's game. Xavier's players wore their socks pulled
up to their knees, just like Thornton did, in honor of their
injured teammate.

Justin Doellman added 15 points and 10 rebounds -- hitting all
seven of his free throws -- with B.J. Raymond scoring 13 points off
the bench and Josh Duncan chipping in with 10 points.

The Musketeers were 25-of-27 at the line to Fordham's 7-of-11.

Jermaine Anderson led the Rams (12-12, 7-4) with 14 points, with
Bryant Dunston adding 13 and Michael Binns 11. They had won their
last four games, while Xavier had lost its last two.

Xavier shot 53 percent in the first half to take a 48-34 lead.
Fordham got within eight points midway through the second half but
a 12-3 Xavier run over the next eight minutes allowed the
Musketeers to pull away.
