BOSTON (AP) -- Jose Juan Barea scored 27 points to move into second place on Northeastern's career scoring list as the Huskies beat Rider 92-79 on Saturday.

Barea, who also had 11 assists, shot 6-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc, and 11-of-14 from the line to move past Pete Harris and into second place with 2,190 points. The late Reggie Lewis, who played for the Huskies until 1987, is the program's top career scorer with 2,709 points.

Shawn James had 13 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks. Bobby Kelly scored 13 points, Aaron Davis chipped in with 12 and Janon Cole had 11 points for Northeastern.

Rider (8-17, 4-12 Colonial), which lost its fourth straight, was led by Edwin Muniz with 17 points and Jason Thompson with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The lead changed 10 times in the first half, but a pair of free throws by Bennett Davis late in the half gave Northeastern (15-10, 10-6) a 39-38 halftime lead, which it never relinquished.

The Huskies opened the second half on a 13-1 run. Aaron Davis capped the decisive stretch with a layup in traffic, making the score 52-39 with 15:05 remaining.
