Liberty 78, Winthrop 71

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Larry Blair had 10 of his 37 points from
the free throw line to lead Liberty to a 78-71 win over Winthrop on
Monday night.

Blair scored 26 of Liberty's 47 points in the second half.

Craig Bradshaw's two free throws tied the game for the ninth
time at 26 apiece with 3:38 left to play in the first half.
Bradshaw was fouled again with 2:27 left and hit 1 of 2, and
Winthrop (18-7, 11-3 Big South Conference) led 36-31 at the break.

Liberty (7-20, 3-11) tied the game five more times before taking
the lead off two free throws by Blair. After five more lead
changes, Blair tied it again at 61-all with 4:29 left to play.
Blair hit two more free throws before James Shuler tied it with two
of his own. Anthony Smith answered with four straight from the
charity stripe, and Liberty never trailed again.

Smith had 17 points for Liberty and Evan Risher added 11.

Torrell Martin led Winthrop with 32 points, five from beyond the
arch, and Bradshaw added 18.
