NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Jose Juan Barea had 26 points and 10 assists
to lead Northeastern past Delaware 80-66 on Thursday night.
Shawn James added 15 points, eight rebounds and 10 blocks for
the Huskies (16-10, 11-6 Colonial Athletic Association), who won
their third straight and prevailed at Delaware for the first time
in their past 10 tries.
Bennet Davis added 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting for
Northeastern.
Harding Nana had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Blue Hens
(8-19, 4-13 CAA), who will finish the season with a losing record
at home for the first time since 1986.
Rulon Washington added 15
points.
Northeastern led 37-35 at halftime, and the Huskies pulled away
with a 17-7 run over the first five minutes of the second half.
Delaware never got closer than 11 points after that, and
Northeastern led by as many as 21. Davis hit two free throws to
make it 71-50 with 8:16 remaining.
The Blue Hens got off to a hot start, hitting three 3-pointers
in the first five minutes to take a 15-6 lead with 14:13 left in
the first half. Northeastern tied it at 33 on a layup by
Janon Cole
with 2:10 remaining, and Delaware never regained the lead.
