The Aggies survived a 13-0 Boise State run in the final five
David Pak had put Utah State (19-6, 9-4 WAC) ahead 64-49 with a
field goal with 5:02 left in the game when the Broncos went on a
run that ended when Boise State's Coby Karl hit a field goal with
48 seconds left. The Broncos (13-13, 5-9 WAC) got one more chance
when Utah State's Harris turned the ball over with 22 seconds left.
A field goal attempt by Karl at the buzzer bounced off the front
Karl ended with a game-high 19 points, including 11 down the
homestretch. Kurt Cunningham came off the Boise State bench to add
10 points. For the Aggies, Chaz Spicer added 13 and Cass Matheus 10
Utah State dominated the first half, holding a 41-26 halftime
lead on 63 percent shooting from the field, including 55 percent
from 3-point range, while the Broncos could manage only 31 percent
from the field. Utah State cooled off in the second half and wound
up hitting 52 percent for the game while the Broncos upped their
field goal shooting to 40 percent for the entire contest.
The Aggies upped their second half lead to 55-38 on a field goal
by Harris before Boise State started to make its way back into the
Carroll scored all of his points on 3-pointers, hitting 6 of 9.
He was held to just one 3-pointer in the second half.
