South Carolina St 72, Norfolk State 52

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Brian Mason scored 19 points as South
Carolina State beat Norfolk State 72-52 Monday night.

The Bulldogs (11-15, 9-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) scored
the final 11 points of the first half to take a 37-24 lead at the
break.

South Carolina State then went on another 11-0 run early in the
second half to take a 56-31 lead. The Bulldogs would lead by at
least 20 the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs shot 50 percent (27-of-54) from the field and 87.5
percent (14-of-16) from the foul line. The Spartans shot just 39.6
percent (21-of-53) from the field, including missing all eight of
their 3s, as well as shooting 47.6 percent (10-of-21) on free
throws.

South Carolina State is now a half-game ahead of the Spartans
(10-17, 9-8) for fifth place in the MEAC and a bye into the
quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

Karandick Ogunride led the Spartans with 12 points, while Corey
Lyons added 10 points and six rebounds.

Derrick Davis added 13 points and Robert Baker and Chris
Miller-Williams each added 10 for the Bulldogs.
