Holy Cross 78, Navy 50

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Kevin Hamilton and Keith Simmons each
scored 19 points as Holy Cross defeated Navy 78-50 Friday in the
first round of the Patriot League Tournament.

Kaleo Kina had 15 points for Navy (10-18).

No. 2 seed Holy Cross (19-11) plays the third seed, Lehigh
(19-11) in the semifinals at Holy Cross on Sunday. Lehigh defeated
Colgate, 48-44 on Friday night.

The Crusaders took a 43-28 lead at halftime. Then at the start
of the second half, Adam Teague had 3-pointer and Kina scored 6
points to spark a 10-5 run over a 4:23 span to draw within 48-38.

But Hamilton scored eight points in an 18-8 run to put the game
away. Alex Vader Baan added six, including a 3-pointer to give Holy
Cross an insurmountable 66-46 advantage with 7:00 left.

In the first half, Navy's Greg Sprink scored inside, Matt Fanin
added a free throw and Corey Baldwin also converted inside, to tie
it 17-17 with 10:19 left. But with Kina on the bench with two
personal fouls, Holy Cross pressured Navy into four key turnovers
and several missed shots.

Tim Clifford and Colin Cunningham each scored 5 points,
including 3-pointers, as Holy Cross took a 33-17 lead with 4:19
remaining. Navy's Corey Johnson snapped the string with a
3-pointer, but Simmons immediately responded with a three, to give
the Crusaders the lead at intermission.
