WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- Matt Bell scored 17 points and Jarell Brown contributed 16 to lead Army in a 62-53 win over Hartford Saturday.

Alex Zimnickas led Hartford (0-3) with 16 points and hit his first four shots of the game to give the Hawks a strong start.

Hartford went ahead by seven on a driving layup by Jaret Von Rosenberg. Bo Taylor, who scored 13, followed up with a fadeaway jumper to put the lead at 20-13.

Army (3-1) responded with defensive pressure, holding the Hawks without a field goal for nearly 10 minutes and outscoring Hartford, 13-0 to take a 26-20 lead.

Hartford finally stopped the run on a Zimnickas basket with less than two minutes left in the half and scored five points to trail 26-25.

Army continued its surge in the second half, opening the period with a 21-6 spurt to grab a 47-31 lead.

Hartford responded with a 10-0 run to cut the advantage to 47-41.

Another three-pointer from Corban Bates upped Army's lead to 50-41, but a quick 6-2 run by Hartford brought the Hawks to within five at 52-47. That's as close as they would get, as Army converted its free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
