BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- Eduardo Bermudez scored a career-high 21 points and Jeremy Clayton added 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead Appalachian State to a 78-63 win Monday over Montreat.
The Mountaineers never trailed, shooting 49 percent from the field and holding the Cavaliers to 38 percent shooting.
Bermudez came off the bench for Appalachian State, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and making all eight of his free throw attempts.
Clayton also shot 6-of-10 from the field. He recorded his 6th career double-double for the Mountaineers (2-1).
Thomaal Conyers chipped in 16 points and
Noble Anthony scored 13 and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Cavaliers (2-6).
Aaron Collazo had 11 points and
Tim Lewis scored eight points and 11 rebounds for Montreat.
