CINCINNATI (AP) -- Senior Eric Marshall scored 27 points, including four 3-pointers, to help Wofford stun Cincinnati 91-90 in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Shane Nichols added 20 points for the Terriers who defeated a Big East opponent for just the second time in program history.

Freshman Deonta Vaughn, making his first start for the Bearcats, led all scorers with 33 points including 22 in the first half. He went 9-of-17 on 3-pointers.

With the game tied at 90, Nichols hit one of two free throws to give Wofford a one-point lead with 5.7 seconds remaining. Vaughn's potential game-winning shot caromed off the rim at the buzzer giving Wofford the win.

Wofford (4-1) has won four consecutive games since losing 92-88 at North Carolina State in the season opener.

Marcus Sikes added 20 points for Cincinnati (3-1).

Both teams shot 53 percent from 3-point range in the first half.

Wofford grabbed an 18-14 early lead, hitting 4-of-5 3-pointers.

The Bearcats responded with five consecutive three-point shots, including four by Vaughn, to pull ahead 29-18.

The Terriers pulled to a 33-32 lead after a 3-pointer by Corey Godzinski completed a 12-0 Wofford run.

The score was tied at 55 when Nichols converted two free throws following a technical foul on Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin.

Wofford led by nine points with 3:59 remaining in the game before the Bearcats rallied to tie the score.

Cincinnati head football coach Mark Dantonio, who led the Bearcats to an upset win over undefeated No. 7 Rutgers on Saturday, was honored at halftime.

The Terriers' only other victory over a Big East team was in 2002 when it defeated Virginia Tech.
