La Salle 84, Howard 78

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Darnell Harris scored a career high for the second straight game, totaling 27 points, and Rodney Green added 17 as La Salle defeated Howard 84-78 on Tuesday.

Harris has now scored 52 points in two games for the Explorers (2-0), including 9-for-13 from 3-point range. Paul Johnson also had a career high, scoring 15 points for the Explorers.

Eugene Myatt had 26 points and Darryl Hudson 11 for Howard (1-3), which committed 18 turnovers, increasing its total to 65 in four games.

The Bison led 38-32 with 1:25 left in the first half of a game that saw the score tied eight times and the lead change hands 16 times. But La Salle then scored 7 straight points including a 3-point shot by Kimmani Barrett at the buzzer for a 39-38 La Salle lead.

In the second half, La Salle gradually pulled away. The Explorers pulled out to an 11-point lead with 2:42 to go and held on for the win.
