LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Gary Neal scored a game-high 24 points,
including the winning basket with 7.9 seconds left, to lift Towson
over Chattanooga 56-55 in third round of the Las Vegas Holiday
Invitational on Friday.
Neal's eight-foot runner from the right side broke a 54-54 tie.
He went 9-of-22 from the field.Chattanooga had a chance to tie and win in the final 2.2
seconds. After being fouled driving to the hoop with 2.2 seconds
left, Kevin Bridgewaters (9 points) hit the first of two free
throws, but missed the second. Khalil Hartwell got the offensive
rebound, but missed an off-balance layup.The game featured 20 lead changes and 12 ties. Each team's
largest lead was five points.Also for the Tigers (3-2), Tommy Breaux added seven points.Keddric Mays led the Mocs (2-3) with 13 points. Mays went
4-of-10 from 3-point range.Neal scored the Tigers' final seven points, including a
3-pointer to tie it 54-54 with 1:08 left. On a prior possession,
Chattanooga took the lead 54-51 on a Mays' 3-pointer with 1:28
remaining.For the game, Towson shot 17-of-46 from the field, while
Chattanooga shot 17-of-46.
