CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Demetrius Nelson scored a career-high 23
points to lead The Citadel to an 81-60 win over Asbury on Friday,
breaking a five-game losing streak for the Bulldogs.
The Citadel (2-4) came out sluggish in the first half and had
just a six-point lead at the half.But the Bulldogs came out firing in the second, with Donny
McLendon hitting four of his six 3-pointers in the period on his
way to 22 points for the game. Kevin Hammack added 11 points, four
assists and five steals for The Citadel.Michael Spann came off the bench to lead all Asbury (5-6)
scorers with 15 points. Derek Bland added 14 and Brandon Fentress
scored 10 and led the Eagles with eight rebounds.
