LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Romeo Travis and Nick Dials scored 13 points apiece to lead visiting Akron to a 63-48 non-conference win over Niagara on Saturday.
The Zips (3-1) used a balanced scoring attack, as 10 players had at least three points in the game. Akron, which trailed 9-2 a little more than 4 minutes into the game, took the lead for good when a Chris McKnight layup gave the Zips a 15-13 advantage with 11:12 in the first half.Clif Brown led Niagara (0-3) with 15 points. J.R. Duffey added 14 points for the Purple Eagles, who have lost four straight at home dating back to last season.Niagara was 4-of-17 from 3-point range. The Purple Eagles are 11-of-77 (14.3 percent) on 3-pointers this season. Brown had a game-high eight rebounds for Niagara.Quade Milum had seven rebounds for Akron, while Dials was credited with seven assists.
