PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Mark McAndrew scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, leading Brown to a 80-74 win over Quinnipiac Saturday night.
The Bears (3-5) overcame a five point lead by the Bobcats midway through the second half with a 9-2 run. Brown set a new school record for successful free throws, hitting 47 shots in 60 attempts.
Adam Gonzalez paced the Bobcats with 18 points.
The Bears were playing without leading scorer Keenan Jepson, who left the team earlier in the day for personal reasons.
McAndrew provided Brown with its largest lead of the opening half, 37-28, when he hit a pair of free throws with 2:53 remaining before intermission. Brown led 39-33 at the half.
Brown hit on 6-of-15 shots from the field in the first half, but gained an overwhelming edge from the free throw line, making 26-of-33 while the Bobcats converted just 4-of-13.
Quinnipiac capped a 17-9 surge at the start of the second half taking its first lead of the game at 50-48 with 12:17 remaining on a pair of free throws from Gonzalez.
Brown regained the lead with 7:02 left on a pair of free throws from Chris Skrelja.
The 80 points was a season high for the Bears.
