FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) -- Julian Sullinger scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Kent State to a 79-69 victory over IPFW on Saturday.
Mike Scott added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Flashes (5-3).
Justin Hawkins led the Mastodons (3-7) with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
IPFW trailed at halftime despite shooting 13-of-23 (56 percent) from the floor in the first half. The Mastodons led 31-24 with 4:58 left in the half but Kent State went on a 15-6 run over the final five minutes of the half to take a 39-37 halftime lead.
The Golden Flashes outshot IPFW 46 percent to 39 percent in the second half and built their lead to as much as 11 points with 3:14 remaining.
Kent State outrebounded IPFW 35-31 and converted 19 Mastodon turnovers into 23 points.
