LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Matt Murrer scored 32 points and VMI closed the game on a 14-2 run for a 99-87 victory over South Carolina State on Monday night.
The game was tied at 85 with 3:46 to play, but the Keydets (5-8) took advantage of some key turnovers by the Bulldogs for the game-closing run.
The Keydets, the leading scoring team in the nation at 102 points per game, scored 43 points off turnovers, offsetting 39 percent shooting.
Reggie Williams scored 25 points for VMI while
Chavis Holmes had 17 and
Fred Robinson 14.
Travis Jones scored 22 points for the Bulldogs (1-6) and
Brian Mason had 17.
