ATLANTA (AP) -- Thaddeus Young scored a career-high 24 points and Ra'Sean Dickey had 15 and a game-high nine rebounds to help Georgia Tech beat Georgia 78-69 on Friday night.
Winning their third straight over the Bulldogs at Alexander Memorial Coliseum, Georgia Tech led the rest of the way after
Javaris Crittenton's 3-pointer gave his team a 48-45 lead with 15:01 remaining.
Young, a highly recruited forward from Memphis, Tenn., ended a 14-0 run with a layup just 2:54 later.
The Yellow Jackets (8-3) gave the home team an 11-1 record in the last 12 series matchups.
Levi Stukes finished with 21 points for Georgia (8-2), which went just 7-for-21 on attempts beyond the arc.
Mike Mercer, who entered with an 18.1 average that led the Bulldogs, scored just nine points, all of them on free throws.
Stukes' 3-pointer with 33.2 remaining cut the lead to nine but ended the scoring for Georgia.
Mercer failed to score a field goal for the first time in his career. A former teammate of Philadelphia 76ers reserve guard Louis Williams at South Gwinnett High School, Mercer went 0-for-11 from the field and appropriately missed a reverse layup in the final seconds.
Crittenton, a freshman point guard, finished with 13 points and
Mario West 12 for Georgia Tech.
