INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Lance Stemler had career highs of 21 points and nine rebounds to lead Indiana over IUPUI 86-57 Friday night.
Stemler had plenty of help as Earl Calloway also had 21, one less than his career high, and sat out much of the second half with the Hoosiers solidly in command. Freshman reserve Armon Bassett contributed a season-high 20 points.
Indiana scored the game's first 10 points and never looked back, building a 20-point halftime lead. IUPUI never drew closer than 18 points in the second half and Indiana took its biggest lead at 86-53 with 1:22 to play.
The Hoosiers (8-3) held the Jaguars scoreless for nearly four minutes to open the game as IUPUI (5-6) missed seven of its first eight field goal attempts.
Calloway had 17 points in the first half as he hit all five of his shots from the field. The Hoosiers led 48-28 at halftime, thanks to a 22-6 rebounding advantage and a 59 percent shooting.
Indiana hit 10 of it 13 3-point shots for the game. IUPUI, which was playing the Hoosiers for the first time ever, shot just 32 percent for the game and was outrebounded 43-23.
