SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- Lazarius Coleman's layup with eight seconds left gave Savannah State the lead for good in a 52-49 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Friday, ending the Tigers' 10-game losing streak.
Joseph Flegler, who led Savannah State (5-10) with 17 points, sealed the win with two free throws with one second to play.Bethune-Cookman (2-7) trailed 26-22 at halftime but led through much of the second half. Their biggest margin was 44-39 with 6:01 to play after Aaron Nelson's free throw.Nelson's layup gave Bethune-Cookman a 49-47 lead with 2:23 left. Flegler hit one free throw to bring Savannah State within a point with 2:01 to play. Neither team scored again until Coleman's game-winning layup.Jimmy Hudson led Bethune-Cookman with 16 points.
