WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Carl Landry overcame frustration and
foul trouble to get 21 points and eight rebounds in leading Purdue
to a 79-61 victory over Texas A&M--Corpus Christi on Friday night.
The Boilermakers (10-2) remained undefeated at home this season
despite cold shooting and weak rebounding in a rough and tumble
game.Corpus Christi's 7-foot center, Chris Daniels, led the Islanders
(6-4) with 19 points and eight rebounds.Landry scored 12 points in the first half, but drew his second
foul and sat down with 5:43 left before halftime with Purdue
leading 28-14.When the Islanders scored six straight, Purdue coach Matt
Painter turned to 6-10 freshman Dan Vandervieren to face Daniels.
Vandervieren made all three of his shots in the final minutes of
the half.Landry went to the bench again early in the second half after
picking up a technical foul for slamming his hand on the court in
protest of a non-call by the officials. Corpus Christi then closed
within four points before Landry returned and helped the
Boilermakers pull away.David Teague added 13 points for Purdue as his teammates Gordon
Watt, Keaton Grant and Vandervieren each scored 10.
