POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- Jared Jordan had 18 points to lead Marist in a 67-63 win over Northern Illinois Friday in the second game of the Pepsi Marist Classic.
Will Whittington contributed 15 points for Marist (9-3), while James Smith had 10 rebounds.Ryan Paradise had 23 points to lead Northern Illinois (3-8). Mike McKinney added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Huskies.Northern Illinois jumped out to a quick 12-4 lead on a jumper by Ben Rand.Marist responded with a 15-5 run to take a 19-17 lead on a 3-pointer by Whittington.Paradise hit a layup with 40 seconds left in the first half to give the Huskies a 32-31 lead at the break.The teams traded the lead early in the second, until McKinney tied the game at 36-all with a layup at 18:38. Marist went on to take the lead for good.Central Arkansas will face Marist in the title game on Saturday. Northern Illinois will square off with Bucknell in the consolation game.
