ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Roy Hibbert scored 14 points and Jonathan Wallace added 12 Saturday to power Georgetown to its sixth straight victory in a 67-51 win over Michigan.
Marc Egerson also had 11 points for the Hoyas (10-3), who open Big East play next Saturday against Notre Dame. Georgetown, which connected on 23 of 44 field goal attempts, was only the second team this season to hit more than 50 percent of its shots against Michigan.Dion Harris had 16 points and freshman DeShawn Sims added 10 for the Wolverines (12-3) who have lost two of their last three games heading into Wednesdays Big Ten opener against Illinois.It was the first loss at Crisler Arena in Michigans last 14 home nonconference games.Georgetown built off its 31-25 halftime lead by opening the second half hitting all four of its shots in an 11-0 run. Wallace, DaJuan Summers and Jeff Green each hit 3-pointers during the spurt.Sims basket and free throw with 9:40 remaining cut the deficit to 48-39, but Georgetown went back up by as many as 18 points and did not let Michigan any closer the rest of the way. The Wolverines were able to make only seven of their 20 field goal attempts in the second half.After hitting the first basket of the game, Michigan struggled offensively, hitting only eight more field goals the remainder of the half.Georgetown took control early by scoring 14 of the first 20 points of the game. The Hoyas built their lead to as much as 11 points. However, Harris pulled the Wolverines within 31-25 at halftime by scoring all 10 of Michigans points in the final 3:17.
